Curtis L. Johnson Memorial Scholarship was established after the tragic loss of our son, Curtis Lloyd Johnson on April 22, 2015. Curtis was born on March 19, 1997. He was an 18-year old senior with a promising future ahead of him. Curtis was two weeks away from graduating from Southwind High School and one week away from his senior prom when his life tragically ended. Due to negligence, an unintentional shooting occurred that ended Curtis’ life before he could flourish into a productive young man, college student, husband or father.
Curtis, affectionately known as “Lil Curtis”by his family and “Big Curtis”by his friends, had many interests. He was a “Sneaker Head” who loved customizing athletic shoes and selling them to friends online. For those who knew Curtis best, it was obvious that he had an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for computers. His dream was to become a Computer Engineer. Curtis will always be remembered as an amazing young man who touched the lives of many, and with this scholarship we hope to help others fulfill their dreams.
